The 4th cohort call for applications has now been announced with a joint partnership with YouLead Africa, Plan International, and the African Union Office of the Youth Envoy. This call for expression is an opportunity for young African women. YouLead Africa Lead(H)er Fellowship has specifically been designed for young women leaders from Eastern and Southern Africa, as well as the Middle East by providing them with a platform to stretch (expand) their leadership dexterities (skills) and make a meaningful impact in their communities.
Details Regarding YouLead Africa Lead(H)er Fellowship
As far as the Lead(H)er terminology is concerned, it stands for ‘she is a leader’, and the fellowship has been conceptualized with the purpose of supporting young women in Africa by nurturing their dexterities (skills), aspirations, and expertise in the fields of economics/business, politics, and peace and security.

The purpose of the fellowship is to endow young women with a safe space – the young women who have not been exposed much to international and regional opportunities. In doing so, it is believed by the authorities that young women laced with a peculiar interest in economic governance, political participation, and peace and security will shape their contribution in these areas (fields).
The 4th cohort of the fellowship (this year) will be a 5-month fellowship program. The first week of the fellowship will be conducted physically, whereas the remaining part of the fellowship will be virtual.
The virtual component of YouLead Africa Lead(H)er Fellowship will provide the fellows with at least 10 hours per month and includes virtual gatherings and personal assignments. Besides, 2 hours per week will be assigned for virtual gatherings with the trainers. Additionally, 2 hours per month will be provided for group work, personal assignments, and readings.

Eligibility Criteria for Lead(H)er Fellowship 4th Cohort
· If anyone would like to be considered for this fellowship program as a cohort member, they should be a national of the countries eligible for this program such as from Eastern, Southern Africa, and the Middle East.
· The applicants should not be older than 25 years.
· The 4th cohort is open to young women who are a maximum of 25 years of age and are nationals and residents of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Malawi, South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Lesotho, Somalia, Egypt, Sudan, and Zimbabwe.

Successful fellows will be offered internet packages to facilitate their participation in the sessions to be done virtually and the completion of their assignments.

Deadline to Submit the Applications
The last submission date to apply for this fellowship program is 20th December 2024. It is advised to apply early. The eligible applicants will be informed in January 2025.
