Details Regarding WTO Young Professionals Programme 2026

For the World Trade Organization Young Professionals Programme for 2026, the Secretariat of the WTO is inviting applications. The programme happens to be a novel opportunity for qualified young professionals up to the age of 32 years, as of 1st January 2026. The applications are invited from the WTO members with low or no professional representation in the World Trade Organization Secretariat to increase their knowledge of the WTO and dexterities in international trade issues.

The Young Professionals Programme aims to broaden the pool of professionals from these WTO Members with the aim of widening their representation in the World Trade Organization and/or other international and regional organizations. The WTO Young Professionals Programme 2026 offers chosen young professionals the marvelous opportunity to obtain work experience in the World Trade Organization. The program will last for one year, and there will be no extension in duration.

General Functions Under the Young Professionals Programme

Those who are chosen for this programme will be allocated to a particular division of the Secretariat of the WTO in accordance with the priorities and needs of the organization besides on the basis of the areas of interest of the young professionals.

As far as the areas of work are concerned, they include dispute settlement, accessions, agriculture, government procurement (GPA), intellectual property rights, market access, competition policy, trade and development, rules, trade in services and investment, trade policy analysis, trade facilitation, and trade-related technical assistance.

Eligibility Criteria WTO Young Professionals Programme

Interested candidates need to meet the requirements. Those who would like to apply must:

  • Possess an advanced university degree in economics, law, and other international trade-relevant subjects related to WTO work
  • Be a natural person from a World Trade Organization member
  • Possess at least two years’ work experience
  • Showcase their commitment to WTO-relevant work and demonstrate a higher level of interest in international trade
  • Be proficient in the English language. Additionally, if they have a good knowledge of one of the World Trade Organization’s other official languages like Spanish and French, it would be beneficial
  • Be 32 years old or younger at the expected beginning date of the programme (if chosen)

Financial Benefits

Successful candidates will receive a monthly salary of CHF 4,000. Besides, they will be provided with travel expenses and appropriate medical coverage.

The last date to submit the applications is 21st April 2025. Late applications are not accepted, so, it is advised to submit as early as possible.
