The University of Vaasa charges tuition fees in the international master’s programs, and the fee is 14,000 Euros per academic year (commencing from the autumn semester 2025). There is no need to pay the tuition fees if you:
- Are an EEA/EU citizen
- you are equivalent to an EEA/EU citizen (such as a Switzerland citizen)
- are living in Finland on a permanent basis and hold a continuous residence permit in Finland (such as A-Type or P-type issued for purposes other than a study purpose)
- Possess an EU blue card
Available Scholarships
The University of Vaasa scholarships are available in the form of exemptions (waivers) based on previous academic performance of the applicants, on the speed of commitment to the offered study place, students/applicants’ progress in their studies. The duration of the scholarship will be two years.
First-Year Scholarships for International Students
By selecting the scholarship option in the application form of the study program, scholarships can be applied for. Together with the admission results, students or the applicants will be informed about the scholarship application outcome.
From the first-year tuition fee, a discount of 6000 Euros will be offered to all fee-paying students who pay the remaining fee of 8000 Euros within the timeframe of 21 days from receiving the acceptance email. Those who do not pay within 21 days, they still can be benefited from a small tuition waiver provided that their academic performance has been outstanding.

International Excellence Scholarship at the University of Vaasa
The applicants with a CGPA of at least 4/5 (Finnish system) or its equivalent in their international grading system can be provided with international excellence scholarships for each master’s program. The scholarship is available for a first-year tuition fee waiver in the form of 4000 Euros in all programs. Those who qualify need to pay 10,000 Euros for the first year.
Second-Year Scholarships at the University of Vaasa
It must be noted that all first-year scholarships consist of a conditional scholarship for the 2nd year (academic achievement scholarship). During their studies, those who do not have a 1st year scholarship are eligible to apply for the 2nd year scholarship. It requires registering as attending if you want to apply for this scholarship. Non-attending students for their 2nd academic year for a reason, they must be aware that the university will not transfer the scholarship to the next year of attendance.
Academic Achievement Scholarship at the University of Vaasa
Students could be offered the academic achievement scholarship for the second year (2026-27 academic year). The worth of the scholarship is 6000 Euros. If you want to bag the scholarship, you have to proceed with your studies in the target time, meaning that you need to complete a minimum of 60 ECTS by the end of the first academic year. The credits have to be registered till 31st July 2026, and they need to be included in the student’s degree.
Those who are offered this scholarship have to pay their remaining fee of 8000 Euros for their second year.
