The faculty hosts two National Centers of Competence in Research of the highly competitive Swiss National Sciences Foundation in addition to numerous European research projects. The master’s programs are offered either entirely in English or in French and English. With the support of external partners, the Faculty of Science has launched an Excellence Fellowship Program that is open to exceptional and highly motivated students wishing to pursue a Master of Science degree program in one of the fields (disciplines) covered by the faculty. Eligibility Criteria for Geneva Excellence Master Fellowships

Regardless of their home university, this magnificent fellowship program is for the candidates who have passed or are doing a brilliant Bachelor’s degree and are one of the best in their year. Interested candidates are required to meet the admission criteria of the Master of their choice and be chosen based on the application file for an Excellence Fellowship.

It must be noted that for the application to be considered, each interested candidate has to fulfill the enrollment process as described on the Admission Office website.

Note: Students who have begun a Master’s program already at the Faculty of Science are no longer eligible to apply for the Excellence Master Fellowship.

Funding for Excellence Master Fellowships

Successful candidates will get a grant amounting to CHF 10’000 to CHF 15’000 per year (no teaching duties). The grant will be conferred for one year and be extended for the regular duration of the selected master’s degree program (3 to 4 semesters) provided that the candidate/student is academically successful at the end of the first semester of studies.

Required Documents for the University of Geneva Excellence Master Fellowships

The application will either be in English or French and has to include the following documents in the form of a single PDF file (PDF format).

A scanned copy of the passport or national identity
A maximum of two pages of CV
Exams transcript passed during the bachelor’s degree with all grades
A motivation letter is also required to be attached to the application that should describe the applicant’s specific interests and applicant’s motivation to pursue a Master of Science program at the University of Geneva
Letters of reference (If possible) from two professors could also be attached. They preferably could be from two professors sent directly by them to Excellence-Master-Sciences@unige.ch. The letters should attest to the candidate’s aptitude for this program
GRE or TOEFL, or other language test results

Deadline for Applications
