About GenU 9JA

Established to support Nigerian youth (aged 10 to 24) in transitioning from learning to earning successfully, GenU 9JA is a Public-Private Youth Partnership (PPYP). The goal is to empower twenty million youngsters by 2030 through digital learning, livelihood opportunities, and job-related 21st-century skills.

Roles and Responsibilities of YPAT Members

The members of YPAT will:

  • Advocate for youngsters (youth) in policy events and dialogues
  • Lead and support community-based initiatives and projects
  • Participate in training programs and capacity-building workshops
  • Engage digitally to promote youth-focused initiatives
  • Collaborate with government bodies, youth organizations, and private sector partners

Eligibility Criteria

There is an eligibility criterion for UNICEF GenU 9JA’s Young People’s Action Team (YPAT) 2024-2025.

  • The applicants should be aged 10 to 29 years
  • They must be passionate about social change, youth engagement, and development
  • They must have demonstrated experience in volunteering, community leadership, or activism
  • They need to be available for a one-year commitment
  • Applicants must be citizens of Nigeria and residents in the state you are applying for
  • Must be willing to participate in online and in-person volunteer activities
  • They should have access to smartphone
  • Applicants should have leadership experience in an active youth-led organization or network addressing critical issues of the youth (like employment, education, entrepreneurship, gender equality, climate action, etc.)
  • They should be proficient in English both in written and spoken
  • They should have the ability to work in a multicultural environment with a sense of respect and inclusivity
  • They need to have a proven track record of leadership or advocacy in youth-focused initiatives with a minimum 2 years of experience
