Details Regarding UICC’s Technical Fellowships

The call for applications for 2024 has now been announced. These fellowships provide cancer professionals the chance to obtain the latest knowledge, techniques, and skills in cancer control through short learning visits of 2 weeks to 2 months’ duration.

As far as the award amounts of the fellowships are concerned, they will be calculated based on the fellowship duration and published scales for living expenses and economy flight estimates for the home to host countries. Therefore, maximum award amounts will remain like previous years.

Objectives of UICC’s Technical Fellowships

· Facilitating the international exchange and development of skills and technical knowledge in cancer control.

· Building capacity of the home organization and individual through the effectual application and dissemination of the latest (newly) gained (acquired) skills in the home organization upon return.

· Supporting the enhancement (development) of networks of cancer control professionals for the continued sharing of knowledge and best practices, guidance or training, and the informal provision of continuing (ongoing) support.

Call Dates: 3^rd June to 12^th August 2024

Extension: Extension can be up to 2 months with no further funding availability from UICC

Duration of Fellowship: There will be flexible durations of 2 weeks to 2 months

Potential Host Institution for UICC’s Technical Fellowships

It is to be noted that the candidates for these fellowships should contact potential host supervisors by themselves. Applicants will be offered support by UICC from UICC member organizations by facilitating introductions with their (candidates) potential institutions and supervisors. Such applicants are required to contact fellows@uicc.org with their resume and a clear description of the expertise (skills) they want to learn on a fellowship.

Eligibility Requirements

This opportunity is for public health professionals including health educators, epidemiologists, nutritionists, social workers, administrators, and other specialized professionals who are working in the area/field of cancer researchers performing translational, cancer control, clinicians, clinical and/or implementation research, pathologists, and nurses.

Candidates should possess a minimum of a Master’s degree while qualified medical doctors could be considered in the absence of a higher degree such as an MD if they have or are within a year of possessing a board certification (or equivalent) in a cancer-relevant specialty, and registered nurses who hold an RN qualification are also eligible to apply for this opportunity.
Candidates with an equivalent one-year training qualification in a specialty relevant to cancer post university degree can be accepted as an equivalent to a Master’s degree such as training as a cancer registrar.
All interested candidates should possess at least 5 years of work experience in the field of cancer before applying.
Remember, PhD and medical students are not eligible to apply.

Following are the figures available maximum.

2 weeks – 2200 USD*

3 weeks – 2800 USD*

4 weeks – 3400 USD*

5 weeks – 4600 USD*

6 weeks – 4600 USD*

7 weeks – 5200 USD*

8 weeks – 5800 USD*

*If chosen, your award amount will be calculated by UCICC based on the fellowship duration visit requested, the published average living expenses for the host country, and the estimation provided for the return economy class travel expenses from the candidate’s home country to the host country.
