Conditions (Eligibility Criteria) for Sultan Qaboos University Scholarships

For postgraduate-level studies, you need to meet the eligibility conditions mentioned as under:

The applicants must possess an acceptance for a postgraduate program.
They need to have unconditional acceptance.
For availing of Master’s scholarships, the applicants/students need to have at least an Accumulative Grade Points Average of 3.00 out of 4.00 or equivalent in their undergraduate study.
To avail of PhD scholarships, they need to satisfy the admission conditions of the program.
They have to be full-time students.

Available Scholarship Types Under Sultan Qaboos University Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies

Exemption from tuition fees that is limited to waive from fees only.
Full scholarships including exemption from tuition fees and a monthly allowance.
Monthly allowance that is limited to an allowance per month only.

Benefits of Scholarships

Based on the contract, a monthly allowance will be available to students who are on a full and monthly allowance scholarship.
International students, who are outside of Oman, who received full scholarships will be eligible to receive airfare (two-way economy class ticket annually), to the nearest international airport to their permanent residence. They need to get approval that has to be obtained from the head/department for the leave.
They will get a paid leave for 36 days upon their arrival at the department head.

Commitments Required from Scholarship Awardees

They need to be full-time.
They have to abide by and adhere to the policy for postgraduate scholarships.
They need to commit to the work assigned.
Students/awardees have to fully comply with the regulations of SQU, decisions, and policies issued by the vice-chancellor.

Details of the Work Assigned to the Scholarship Students (Awardees)

The work will only be assigned to those students who are on full or monthly allowance scholarships.
It is academic in nature.
The Department Head will specify it.
The working hours assigned to students should not exceed the limit of 10 hours per week.
