Details about The Mediterranean Youth Academy – MYA 3rd Edition

The 3^rd edition of the Mediterranean Youth Academy – MYA is coming up to take place in Barcelona (Spain) from 6^th to 9^th November 2023 back-to-back with the High-Level Launch Event of the UFM Youth Action Plan. Youngsters from the Euro-Mediterranean region are encouraged to submit their applications to secure attendance.

MYA’s mission is to qualify and prepare chosen youngsters from the Euro-Mediterranean area through bottom-up training and interactive programs putting focus on issues relevant to the region. The goal of this program is to increase young people’s participation in the decision and policy-making processes and making them empowered to become active changemakers.

The 3^rd edition is co-organized by the Union for the Mediterranean, UFM, the Mediterranean Youth Foundation for Development, and MYF with German Development Cooperation support.

This program has been designed to promote awareness and involve youth in response to the challenges, and Mediterranean issues relevant to three thematic clusters – Youth Employment, Climate Justice, and Climate Change. Participants of this program will have the opportunity to attend high-level panels and thematic non-formal education training sessions. Besides, the participants will also be encouraged to propose youth-relevant initiatives which would receive (possibly) implementation support provided by the MYF.

The Objective of the Call for Mediterranean Youth Academy – MYA 3rd Edition

The objective is to select up to 50 participants from Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Libya, Lebanon, Morocco, Türkiye, Palestine, Tunisia, and Mauritania, besides, selecting up to 30 participants from the other UFM member states.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible, the applicants must:

Be between the age group of 18 and 29 years by the time the application is submitted.
Be the citizens/nationals of one of the UFM Member States.
Have a valid travel document by the time they submit their application.
Be proficient in English at an intermediate level.
Have the availability to follow the MYA for the complete 4 days (6^th to 9^th November 2023).
Possess previous experience or knowledge in one or more of the three MYA Thematic Clusters.

Financial Benefits

A fully funded facility will be offered to up to 50 successful participants from Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Jordan, Mauritania, Libya, Palestine, Morocco, Türkiye, and Tunisia. They will be offered full coverage expenses related to their attendance to the program such as airfare, accommodation, and boarding.
Other successful applicants from other UFM Member States, as per the funds’ availability, up to 30 applicants (from other UFM member states not specified above) could be required to make the coverage of the expenses related to their participation.
All successful applicants, whether they are eligible for fully funded coverage or not, are not required to pay any participation fee to join this 3^rd edition of the MYA. Besides, they all will have access to the material and catering available at the venue of the event.
On November 2023, all successful applicants will also be invited to attend the High-Level Launch Event of the UFM Youth Action Plan foreseen in Barcelona.
