At the Department of the Center for the Environment, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences invites applications for the Harvard Environmental Fellow. The Harvard University Center for the Environment has created the Environmental Fellows Program to enable recent doctorate recipients to use and widen (expand) Harvard’s exceptional resources to tackle complicated (complex) environmental issues (problems).

The chosen environmental fellows will work for 2 years with the faculty members of Harvard in any school or department whilst also strengthening connections across the academic disciplines of the university.

Basic Qualifications of the Candidates

For 2025 environmental fellowships, the candidates should have received their terminal degree between the period of May 2021 and August 2025. It should be noted that the fellows must have filed their dissertation prior to commencing their appointment in September 2025.
Those who possess a doctorate or its equivalent degree in any field are eligible, and they can also propose research projects in any field/discipline. Applicants without a doctorate (PhD) degree could apply provided that they have studied in areas where the PhD is not a typical terminal degree. All successful candidates (who are taken on board) will be able to show (demonstrate) experience by performing scholarly research.
It does not matter from where they have received their degrees meaning that they might have obtained their degrees at any university in the world. Foreign nationality holders are eligible for fellowships but studying at Harvard University requires proficiency in the English language.
