The selected candidate will support the section work on press, public diplomacy, and organization of events including assisting on economic, political, and human rights issues.
Important Tasks
- Assisting with research of a political nature
- Making political analysis of the regional and national situation, contributing to briefings and reports
- Drafting texts like press releases, social media posts, memos
- Gathering and mentoring daily news and events plus supporting the preparation of daily press reviews
- Doing public diplomacy, including communication and usage of social media, information, organization of and participation in external and internal events like seminars, meetings, conferences
- Contributing to administrative tasks as required, for example, letters, translations, filing emerging tasks in fields of responsibility
Special Requirements and Qualifications of the Candidates

- Taking into account the conditions of local health and security, applicants presently living in Ethiopia will be considered only
- Young graduates having a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent diploma in the fields of European Affairs, International Relations, Journalism, Political Science, and Law
- They should have an interest in and preferably previous knowledge of the European Union’s institutional framework and policies
- They should have an interest in and preferably previous knowledge of Ethiopian political developments
- They must have a knack for handling politically sensitive issues in a responsible style
- They should have self-motivation and skills to work autonomously
- They must have outstanding communication skills
- Besides, they should also have excellent drafting and analytical skills
Special Instructions Regarding the Funded Traineeship for Young Graduates
This traineeship can only be provided in compliance with the local legislation in addition to the legislation of the country of origin. Non-eligible candidates’ applications will not be entertained. Once the evaluation process is complete, shortlisted candidates will be contacted. They will be invited for an interview. Those chosen candidates who are unable to provide the required documents will be rejected.
Funding Availability
Each successful trainee will be offered a monthly grant for the coverage of living expenditures. All costs related to visa, travel, insurance, and accommodation will be borne by the trainee.
