Duties of the Lecturer in Cultural Studies

Once appointed as a Lecturer in Cultural Studies, you will be responsible for providing Dutch- and English-taught interactive lectures and tutorials at the undergraduate level (Bachelor’s level) on art content, theory, and methodology. You will co-teach the courses and they could include the research methods in cultural studies, seminars on the topics of the history of the western arts, working in the cultural field, and ‘Literatuur en ideologie’ (Dutch-taught) respectively.

Besides, in the first-year mentorship program, you will also supervise students individually. Additionally, you will coordinate this program. Apart from the above, you will also participate actively in meetings of the teaching team and think proactively about the quality of teaching.

  • The applicant must have completed a Master’s degree successfully in humanities or a related discipline.

Financial Benefits of Lecturer in Cultural Studies

  • As a successful applicant, you will be offered a temporary employment contract of one year.
  • As far as the lecturer in cultural studies salary is concerned, it will be within salary scale 10 and will depend on the applicant’s previous education and years of work experience (should be relevant). The amounts in this scale will be based on a 38-hour working week.
  • An 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% end-of-year bonus will be provided.
